SECOND YEAR BOOK REVIEWS

Microbiology:

Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple
Before buying this book I was not a believer of the "ridiculously simple ways", but now, you bet I am. This book is one of the best review books I have ever read. It is written in a very simple language and has a lot of learning aids. The only flaw this book has is that it does not cover the subject of Immunology.

Examination & Board Review Medical Microbiology and Immunology:
This is a typical member of the Lange Examination and Board Review Series: too lengthy for a review but too review book like for a text. Anyway, I found it really useful in the subject of Immunology and think it is a good complement for Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple.

Pathology:

Basic Pathology
Baby Robbins is basically a shorter version of the Pathology Bible: Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease. Clinical features are highlighted, and organization is straight forward. If you don't mind being able to say that you read the Robbins use this book.

Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease
This is a wonderfully written book. This book covers just about everything you would want to know about pathophysiology and disease processes. Some people like this because they can study Pathology and Pathophysiology from the same book.

BRS Pathology
This book is really necessary for the USMLE. I recommend reading it during the semester at the same time you use one of the textbooks (you can do a chapter in half an hour if you have already read that chapter in the textbook).
